Oktoberfecht 2023
Join us in our annual celebration of HEMA, piggybacking on the themes of Kronprinz Ludwig’s marriage to Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen, Oktoberfecht is a weekend full of exploration, learning, and getting back to the fun roots of casual and collaborative interpretation of historic martial arts.
We will be returning to Camp Royall in Moncure, North Carolina. The camp offers a choice of cabin bunks or tent camping, and there is plenty of room for everyone.
The lineup this year:
- The Franco-Belgian Beer Battle
- A variety of classes presented by world class instructors
- The (unarmored) melee
- The secret tournament
- Armor training and demos
- And more
Your registration covers dinners on Friday and Saturday night (we’re planning on Oktoberfest favorites and NC BBQ), and lunch on Saturday.
We’re proud to announce that this year's event will host instructors Jess Blair, James Reilly, Connor Kemp-Cowell, and Stephen Fratus. More announcements to come! Stay tuned!
COVID-19: You’ll be required to to test negative for COVID-19 48 hours in advance of the event (Rapid or PCR), and show proof of results upon arrival.
Registration is open and the cost for the event, including lodging, is $130 per person.

Location
Oktoberfecht will take place at Camp Royall, run by the NC Autism Society. There is a covered pavilion, a full kitchen and cafeteria, gymnasium, and plenty of fields and outdoor space for all our shenanigans and camping.
If you don't like camping, there are three cabins that can accommodate up to 30 people each. Let us know if you would like to bunk up with fellow participants in a cabin!
